Careers in International Law has become a best-selling classic for law students and attorneys interested in starting an international legal practice - as a private practitioner, as in-house counsel, in the public sector, or working at an NGO. This Fifth Edition presents a broad lineup of diverse contributors, who share their experiences of how they transitioned into international legal practice.

Fifteen authors detail their goals, their paths, and how their professional lives have evolved. Some authors found themselves in the international arena almost by chance or led by client needs, while others created a strategy for developing an international practice. While the diversity of the contributors enlightens the richness of their experiences, each personal story has a take-away message for all.

About the Author

Marcelo Bombau is a partner in the BOMCHIL firm in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as part of its Mergers and Acquisitions and Telecommunications and Media Law departments. He specializes in the structuring and negotiation of corporate sales transactions and continuing advice to boards of directors and in house legal departments of companies dealing in a wide range of fields. The majority of his clients belong to international groups, with emphasis on companies dedicated to mass consumer products and audiovisual media and entertainment. His expertise and dedication to issues entrusted to him have earned him the highest respect from clients and colleagues, as well as uninterrupted recognition from specialized publications. As a result of a combination of the above, he was elected Chair of the ABA Section of International Law for 2014-2015, an historical appointment as the first non-US qualified lawyer to occupy a similar position in more than 135 years of the American Bar Association.
