Lucy Sante, Adele Bertei and Mike DeCapite: Wildcat Reading Tour!

The Golden Notebook is honored to once again host Lucy Sante (Lowlife, The Other Paris) for a reading of her latest work, "Maybe The People Will Be The Times". She will be joined by his friends and authors,  Adele Bertei "Peter and the Wolves, Why LaBelle Matters" and Mike DeCApite, "Jacket Weather". All three authors recent publications are published by indie presses - a cause for celebration and support! Pleas come join us for an hour of amazing reading and writing on music, musicians and the creativity that somes from the street.

 

LUCY SANTE was born in Verviers, Belgium. Her other books include Low Life, Evidence, The Factory of Facts, Kill All Your Darlings, and The Other Paris. She is the recipient of a Whiting Award, Guggenheim and Cullman fellowships, an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Grammy (for album notes), and an Infinity Award for Writing from the International Center of Photography. She has contributed to the New York Review of Books since 1981 and has written for many other publications. She is a visiting professor of writing and the history of photography at Bard College and lives in Ulster County, New York

ADELE BERTEI is a poet, writer, actor, performer, singer, songwriter, and filmmaker. She entered the downtown New York scene of the late 1970s as organist for musical insurrectionists, the Contortions. Bertei appeared in lead roles in several indie films, notably Lizzie Borden's Born in Flames, and has toured with, written songs for, and recorded as a vocalist for artists as diverse as Tears for Fears, Sandra Bernhard, Culture Club, Scritti Politti, Whitney Houston, and Lydia Lunch. Bertei's first solo recording Build Me a Bridge on Geffen Records was a dance hit, as were singles Just a Mirage and Thomas Dolby's Hyperactive!. She debuted new material in 2017-18 at MoMA, Club Salo Paris, and in Florence at La Compagnia Cinema. Adele has facilitated songwriting workshops for homeless youth at My Friend's Place in Hollywood, and volunteered with Wayne Kramer's Jail Guitar Doors

MIKE DECAPITE has published the novel Through the Windshield, the chapbook Creamsicle Blue, and the short-prose collection Radiant Fog under the banner of Sparkle Street Books. Cuz Editions published his story "Sitting Pretty," later anthologized in The Italian American Reader. DeCapite grew up in Cleveland and has lived in London and San Francisco, but has spent most of his time in New York City, where he now resides.
