ELEANOR HEARTNEY is an author and Contributing Editor to Art in America and Artpress. Among her books are "Art and Today", "Postmodernism", and "Critical Condition: American Culture at the Crossroads". She is a co-author of "After the Revolution: Women who Transformed Contemporary Art" and "The Reckoning: Women Artists in the New Millennium". Her awards include the College Art Association's Frank Jewett Mather Awar and the French government's Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. She is a good Catholic girl who graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines, Iowa in 1972. Ms. Heartney resides in New York City.
