Our Award-Winning 2017 Holiday Windows!

Every year we find a local artist to create our holiday windows. This year, co-owner James Conrad's husband Chas Cerulli suggested asking our friend Lucia Reale-Vogt to do it. Co-owner Jacqueline Kellachan immediately agreed with the idea of having this acclaimed artist, crafter and baker (and good friend!) take on the job. All we knew was she planned on recycling books into various pieces of holiday art and the final result blew us away. We are so proud that our town's Chamber of Commerce and Arts Holiday Open House Committee agreed and gave us first place in the window competition. Our town is famous for it's extraordinary holiday windows and this year was no exception. All the windows are beautiful works of art and everyone should get to town this month and enjoy them!

The following was the statement released by the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Arts

"And the Winners of The Woodstock Open House Window Display Contest of 2017 are…

First Place, The Golden Notebook Bookstore.
Second Place, Garden Cafe.
Honorable mentions to Tinker Toys Too, and Candlestock!

Thank you all for making every window fabulous, our town looks great thanks to all of your hard work!

“For the The Golden Notebook windows, Lucia Reale-Vogt started with two concepts, the first ‘Let it Snow,’ a snow storm tableau completely made of old books, sheet music, and metallic paper. The second, ‘Books are Magical,’ would be for the younger lover of books, with characters from some popular kids stories springing to life from over-sized story books. You can see more of Lucia’s work on her blog at www.luciareale.com or email her at lucia@luciareale.com

Lucia has been drawing, designing, creating, crafting, baking, painting, and involved with all things creative for as long as she can remember. No matter if it is made from fabric, paper, or cake, her philosophy is the same. Make it special, make it over the top, and create with abundance. Her mottos are ‘more is more,’ and ‘anything worth doing is worth overdoing.’”

For Garden Cafe, Myoshin Thurman created a gorgeous, vintage, classic, and magical theme for the windows that continues into the whole cafe, and even the wash rooms! She can be reached at (917) 881-8960.

Please, everyone, shop, and eat in our town this Holiday Season.

We thank you for a Wonderful Open House. Happy Holidays!"

Thanks again Lucia Reale-Vogt (pictured below with her gorgeous daughter Nora!)
