Public Figures: A Conversation With Authors Alana Massey and Jessica Valenti on Visible And Vocal Women in Massey's "All The Lives I Want"

To celebrate the release of her critically acclaimed essay collection All The Lives I Want in paperback, cultural critic Massey will be joined by leading feminist author Jessica Valenti to discuss how social and cultural expectations and judgments of famous women are a reflection of the same forces that diminish and condemn all women who do not conform to gender expectations.  Massey will read some short passages from her book followed by a conversation led by Valenti and ending with time for questions from the audience. Light refreshments will be served.

Alana Massey is a writer and critic covering culture, identity, vice, and virtue for publications like The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Vice, Elle, The Guardian, New York Magazine, and many more. Massey has just completed her second book, At Work, Always which explores how modern workplaces across incomes and industries have yet to fully acknowledge that women perform real and valuable labor. She lives in Saugerties, NY.
