Delilah Draper, "Spitfire"

"Spitfire is an ode to being a teenager and a woman. It's about fun, struggle, pain, love, desire, and strength. As I get ready to transition into the college years and leave my home and my childhood I started to reflect on my growth. The nostalgia, anxiety, sadness and utter love I feel for this time and the times that came before it cover these pages as I reflect on the relationships with those around me, my identity, and the world"

Delilah-Ray Draper, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York has been writing poetry since she was five years old, when she wrote her first poem entitled "Bunne" about her love for bunnies. She grew up writing scripts, books, poems, dancing, acting and drawing.  She has a deep love for the arts and this passion and creativity defines her and her view of the world. She believes that art is the best platform for change and she uses her artistic voice to tell her story and to challenge the status quo.
